ADHD Assessment
For the person who has always had to work harder than it looks.ADHD looks different in different people. In some, it’s obvious — the child who can’t sit still, the teenager who loses track of everything, the young adult who starts projects with great energy and abandons them a week later. In others, it’s quieter and more hidden: the person who holds it together in public but is exhausted by the effort, the one who was always told they were smart but lazy, the one who has spent years wondering why something that seems easy for others feels so hard.
If any of that sounds familiar — for yourself or your child — an assessment can help make sense of it.
What an ADHD assessment involves:
Our ADHD assessment draws on clinical interviews, standardised rating scales, and cognitive tasks. We gather information from multiple sources — the person themselves, parents, and often school or other settings — because ADHD shows up differently across environments, and that context matters.
We are not looking for a reason to diagnose. We are looking for an accurate picture of how this person’s mind works — including the considerable strengths that often come alongside ADHD: creativity, lateral thinking, intensity of focus when engaged, and a capacity to see what others miss.
The assessment results in a comprehensive written report and a feedback session where we walk through findings together and discuss what they mean practically — for school, work, relationships, and daily life.
A note on diagnosis and medication: An ADHD diagnosis from our practice can support access to medication through a GP or psychiatrist, as well as school adjustments and workplace accommodations. We are happy to discuss what a diagnosis might open up for you or your child before you commit to the process.
Cost: Privately funded. Medicare rebates do not apply for ADHD assessments.
