We believe that every young person has a right to get support at crucial stages in their lives to help them find their own way. In this fast-paced, always connected, hyper-sexual, judgmental, and conformist post-modern world of ours, it is not surprising that young people have a difficult time to make sense of it all. Talking things through, viewing the world from a different angle, finding solutions, and becoming empowered to take charge of life again is what we are all about.
Empower!
Every person is unique and needs to form their own view of the world and where their place in it is. Even if we had all the answers ourselves (wouldn’t that be nice?), this will not help you in your circumstances. What we can do is empower you to untangle the psychological minefield in your head. Although we will guide you along the way and make use of proven evidence-based treatments, you are the one who decides what makes sense for you and what not, and what you want to take with you going forward. Long-term Skills
By providing support and empowering you to overcome the obstacles you are facing, you will also develop crucial problem-solving skills that will increase your resilience in similar situations in the future. Most treatments these days seem to be focused on changing a single form of behaviour in a short amount of treatment time without trying to identify the issue that caused it. We can compare this to a medical treatment that fixes your running nose, but without addressing the underlying concern, you will be back in no time, potentially with an even bigger problem. We believe that to fix the symptoms, we need to address what is causing them. By doing so, in most if not all cases, the behaviour resolves itself as there is no need for it anymore. Although this may not be the easiest path, it is surely the one with the best chances of long-term success.
